UPSC CDS (II) Examination 2014: Examination Centres

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is conducting a Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam (II) to short-list candidates for providing them recruitment in the departments including Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers Training Academy.

The exam will be held on October 26. List of test centres is provided below:

The applicants should note that there will be a ceiling on the number of candidates allotted to each centre except Chennai, Delhi, Dispur, Kolkata and Nagpur. The seats will be allotted on the first-apply-first-allot basis and once the capacity of the exam will be frozen. The applicants, who do not get the centre of their choice due to ceiling, will be required to choose a centre from the remaining ones.

Once the written test is done, the short-listed candidates will have to appear for an interview and a personality test. Only 10 days remain for the candidates to apply as the application process will end on August 18.

UPSC CDS Examination II: Process for online applications

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited applications for recruitment at 464 posts through Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam (II). Candidates can apply online by August 18.

For candidates who are eligible and interested to apply, a set of instructions is provided below:

• The candidates are required to follow the link: www.upsconline.nic.in;
• Candidates are required to complete the online applications containing two stages: Part I and Part II;
• Part I consist of sections such as: personal details, educational qualification and address. Once, candidates fill in all the details successfully, they should click on the submit option;
• Thereafter, candidates will be provided with a valid registration ID. This is to be used during Part II registration process, wherein the candidates are required to insert their date of birth and the generated registration ID.
• Also, candidates are required to pay the registration fee of Rs 200 either by remitting the money in any branch of SBI by cash or by using net banking facility or by using any visa/ master credit/ debit card.

Documents candidates should have before they start filling the application form:

• Photographs and signature, duly scanned in the .jpg format in such a manner that each file should not exceed 40 KB each and must not be less than 3 KB in size for photograph and 1 KB in size for signature.
• According to an official notification, "The applicants should note that there will be a ceiling on the number of candidates allotted to each of the centres, except Chennai, Delhi, Dispur, Kolkata and Nagpur. Allotment of centres will be on the 'first-apply-first allot' basis, and once the capacity of a particular centre is attained, the same will be frozen. Applicants are, thus, advised that they may apply early so that they could get a centre of their choice".

UPSC CDS Examination (II): Short listing criteria

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is conducting a competitive exam termed as 'Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam II for short-listing candidates at various posts in the departments including Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers Training Academy. Candidates can apply by August 18.

The selection process is mentioned below:

The exam consists of two phases:

1. Written Exam;
2. Interview

Written Exam:
For admissions to Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy:

1. Subject: Marks: Duration
2. English: 100 Marks: 2 hrs
3. General Knowledge: 100 Marks: 2 hrs
4. Elementary Mathematics: 100 Marks: 2 hrs

For admissions to Officers Training Academy:

1. Subject: Marks: Duration
2. English: 100 Marks: 2 hrs
3. General Knowledge: 100 Marks: 2 hrs

• It will be an objective-type question paper. The test booklet of 'General Language' and 'Elementary Mathematics' will be set bilingually in Hindi as well as English.

Interview:

• The candidates that qualify Phase I will be selected for Phase II. Phase II is further segregated into two parts:
• Stage I will comprise of officer intelligence rating (OIR) tests and picture perception and descriptive test.
  Stage II will comprise of interviews, group testing officer task, psychology test and the conference.
• The maximum marks allotted to the written examination and to the interview will be equal for each course i.e. the maximum marks allotted to the written exam and to the interviews will be 300, 300, 300 and 200 each for admission to the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers Training Academy respectively.
