Union Public Service Commission invited application from the eligible candidates for the Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination 2014 for positions vacant with Geological Survey of India and Central Ground Water Board. Interested and eligible candidates have to submit their online application in the prescribed format on or before March 2014.

Eligibility:
Educational Qualification
(i) Geologist: Master's degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology or Geophysical Technology from a recognized University.
(ii) Geophysicists: M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc.(Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a recognised University .
(iii) Chemists: M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a recognized University.
(iv) Junior Hydro-geologists: Master's degree In Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology or Master's degree In Hydrogeology from a recognised University. 
Age limit:
Candidate's age must not be below than 21 years and must not exceed 32 years as on the first day of the month of August of the year in which the examination is to be held.
Category II: Candidate's age must not be below than 21 years and must not exceed 35 years as on 01 August 2014.
Selection procedure:
Candidates have to appear for a written examination of 700 marks consisting of a compulsory general English paper of 100 marks common for all category and separate three papers depending on the category applied for. Each paper will have duration of three hours.
The examination in all the subjects will be conventional essay type.
Successful candidates selected through written examination will be called over for Interview/Personality test of 200 marks.

Eligible candidates have to apply online through the website in the prescribed format. Before filling the online application, candidates are requested to read all the instructions carefully to avoid any mistake as the details filled by the candidates are used for further processes as well.
All candidates should submit their application to the commission.
Persons already in government service or those serving under the public enterprises are required to inform in writing their head of Office/Department that they have applied for the post.
Candidates excepting Female/SC/ST/PH should deposit Rs 200 with State Bank of Bank.
